WORK WITH ME

WORK WITH ME

If you are interested in working with me, I would propose having a preliminary conversation – a face-to-face meeting if at all possible – about your book idea. During that chat, we’d discuss your aims and objectives in wanting to write the book, your ideal outcome and what the best approach for working together might be, given your time and availability, etc. After that, I’ll put together a proposal, evaluating the best way forward for the writing of the book, and giving you an idea of the timeframe, the process, and the estimated cost of your project.

You can find more details about how the ghostwriting process works here.  However, please do bear in mind that how this will unfold depends very much on the individual project, and that in each case I aim to tailor the process in terms of what works best for the you, the client, and given the nature of the book you want to write.

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY ABOUT ME
‘Susan... has the broadest possible knowledge of, and a superb instinct for, book publishing. She has a rare sensitivity to the written word, both to the content and the presentation of that word, and manages to combine integrity, loyalty to her authors, and a pragmatic approach to the process. Her communication skills are exemplary.’

Deirdre Rennison-Kunz
Managing Editor, 1985-2014
Gill & Macmillan Publishers
‘Susan did an amazing job. This was my first book and she approached the project with patience, offering advice and guidance as she led me through the process. She quickly found my voice and even I struggle to find where my contribution ends and hers might begin. Susan really is a pro.’

Paddy Brosnan
Author
'I’ve worked with Susan on many different editorial projects, where she has completed substantive editing and/or ghost-writing, working closely with the author and managing a project to delivery of final manuscript. I have continually found her to be extremely conscientious, professional and solution-focussed, always delivering on deadline. Our authors have only the highest of praise for Susan’s work and for the working relationship they had with her during projects. When Susan takes a project on, she becomes fully invested in fulfilling her role and works hard to ensure that the best possible book comes to market.'

Ciara Doorley
Editorial Director
Hachette Books Ireland
'Without Susan's skill, experience and patience, it is doubtful if my first book . . . would ever have made it to publication. . . I often refer to Susan as my ‘teacher’, and in many respects that is very true. She afforded me not just her valuable time, but her expertise in the often fraught field of publishing, and her personal encouragement at times when she realised it was most required. Susan had faith in me and in my version of events. She never faltered at times when others, who should have known better, quickly fled the scene. For that faith alone, I will be forever grateful to her.'

Johnston Brown
Former RUC detective and
author of Into The Dark
‘Susan combines rigorous editorial skills with an instinctively positive and encouraging perspective. She was the difference between an aspiration and a published book.'

Darragh MacIntyre
Producer and Reporter, BBC Northern Ireland
and author of Conversations
'Susan... proved to be a brilliant guide who helped me negotiate a hugely daunting process. Her sureness of touch and attention to detail was absolutely critical, since Let This Be Our Secret was my first foray into the world of books. Her judgement was 100 per cent in navigating that unfamiliar landscape... I shared the company of a true professional. Without her, and I would have been hopelessly lost. I could not recommend her highly enough.’

Deric Henderson
Former Press Association Ireland Editor and
author of Let This Be Our Secret
